The new Bass Talharpa continues our exploration of deep bass in traditional Scandinavian bowed lyres. If the Bass Jouhikko proved that a “chthonic” low end can be expressive and controllable, this version goes even further: its timbre is noticeably deeper and denser, with a velvety midrange often compared to a viola.

Its overtone-rich voice creates an authentic Nordic atmosphere and pairs beautifully with throat singing, drones, and percussion. A firm attack, long sustain, and profound resonance make the Bass Talharpa equally convincing in solo settings and within an ensemble.

This lyre is suitable for solo playing or for playing in a group.
This is an instrument for those seeking a massive, dark low end: meditative drones, cinematic textures, ritual rhythms, ethno and neofolk — wherever a truly “earthy” voice is needed, the Bass Talharpa sounds convincing and alive.
